In a neighbourhood like Morgenstond, where social and economic divides shape everyday life, how can shared spaces and simple acts of care help bridge these gaps?
Seeds of Wisdom responds to this question by creating low-threshold, collective experiences that value every participant’s knowledge and contribution equally.
The project explores how nature can act as a tool for Buurt Maken: building and nurturing social connections within a neighbourhood. It is rooted in acknowleding the wisdom that already exists in the pluricultural community that characterizes Morgenstond: traditions and stories carried across generations and cultures. Through small-scale activities such as foraging walks, wild pesto workshops, tea circles, and seed exchanges, Seeds of Wisdom creates accessible and intimate ways for neighbours to meet, share, and learn from one another.
Researching how informal structures hold social activities in the area, the project focuses on growing organically. Through an annual programme, we aim to connect to existing platforms and co-design events together.
Each workshop includes tailored programming and an accompanying work booklet. The project also introduces a portable toolkit, a movable trolley that contains the materials needed to host workshops and gatherings, making it easy to bring moments of connection wherever they are needed. Along with it, we developed a written guideline based on the conducted field research. The pilot website gathers documented moments and also serves as a platform to share upcoming events.
