D7. The Traffic Light as a Destination

User Research / Experience design
Team: Marie Kang, Femke Hoppenbrower & Ankit Kumar.
Tutors: Amal Alhaag & Anastasia Kubrak @ Design Academy Eindhoven, September 2021

The traffic light as a destination research project was part of the Student-organized Symposium “The Library”.

The Library Symposium by MA Social Design
24 May (Thursday), 16.00 – 22.00 CET TAC Eindhoven (Vonderweg 1)

See the archived event through Design Academy Eindhoven’s website ︎ HERE

The installation took place as a non-space: Four seemingly traffic light buttons for pedestrians were placed around the space, accompanied by urban stickers. These stickers contain part of the research, and during the activation, the audience walked along with the performer through the space. The traffic light is part of the video, and forces the performer to move around when the light changes colour.

For additional background reading on this topic, read the essay “The traffic light as a medium for unsolicited social engagement”  ︎HERE.
